Chinese New Year
Celebrations 2010

HCCC welcomed in the Chinese New Year with an event organised with the help of the National Children's Centre, the University of Huddersfield and Kirklees Council.

Our celebrations for the YEAR of the TIGER were on Saturday 13 February 2010 and were once again held at the National Children's Centre at Brian Jackson House.

Special thanks goes to Daniel Roach and his martial arts team for stepping in at the last minute to replace the scheduled martial arts performers, who unfortunately were unable to attend. Their demonstration went down very well and we hope they can return next year.

Chinese New Year
Celebrations 2009

HCCC, with the support of Kirklees Council, once again organised an event to welcome in the Chinese New Year.

Huddersfield celebrations for the Year of the Ox took place on Saturday 24 January 2009 and, after being held at the University of Huddersfield the previous year, the celebrations returned to the venue of 2007's event – the National Children's Centre at Brian Jackson House.

There was a great turnout again, so many thanks to all the visitors and the people who made the event possible.

Chinese New Year
Celebrations 2008

Celebrations for the Year of the Rat, organised by HCCC and Kirklees Council, took place in Huddersfield on Saturday 9 February 2008.

For the first time, the event was held at the Quayside building at the University of Huddersfield.

Unexpected building works at the front of the University made access to Quayside a bit tricky for visitors, but many thanks to all those who managed to come along, as the day's events were once again a great success.

Chinese New Year Celebrations 2007

HCCC organised an event in February to celebrate the Year of the Boar.

Celebrations for the Chinese New Year took place on Saturday 24 February 2007 at the National Children's Centre, Brian Jackson House, Huddersfield.

As the event was held on the weekend, we hoped for a good turn out. We were delighted with the number of visitors – around 500 people came along to the event.

Thank you to everyone who helped out and made the day a great success. Thanks also to all the visitors who provided feedback on the event – we will use this information to make next year's celebrations even better.

Chinese New Year Celebrations 2006

HCCC celebrated the Year of the Dog by hosting a Chinese New Year event at the Huddersfield Town Hall on Monday 30 January 2006.

This was the first time HCCC had organised an event of this size, so fingers were crossed that there would be a good turn out and that everyone would have a good time.

At the end of the day, we were delighted with the number of people that came to the event and it was definitely a success.

Thank you to all the volunteers, workers and performers who helped out on the day and special thanks goes to Ian Anstey and Gavin To for taking some great pictures.

We've put some of these photos on this page and you can see more photos if you click on the link below (opens a new window).
