HCCC Achievements & Activities

2007 February

  • Chinese New Year Celebrations: HCCC organised a Chinese New Year event at the National Children's Centre, Huddersfield.



2006 December

  • Secured Kirklees Metropolitan Council funding to build a portable cabin outside the Centre to create an extra room for activities.


2006 July

  • Day trip to Flamingo Land theme park for Chinese families.


2006 January

  • Chinese New Year Celebrations: HCCC hosted its own Chinese New Year event for the first time at the Huddersfield Town Hall.



2005 August

  • Summer trip to London and Windsor Castle for members and their families.


2005 May

  • Day trip to The Trafford Centre with an evening meal at the Tai Wu Chinese Restaurant in Manchester's China Town for members and their families.


2005 February

  • Chinese New Year Celebrations: Members celebrated the Chinese New Year with activities at the Centre and an evening banquet at the Ocean Treasure Chinese Restaurant, Middleton.
  • Huddersfield Chinese Community News: Sui Cheung (Centre Manager) appointed the Deputy Lieutenant for West Yorkshire.
  • The Chinese Women's Contact Group attended a charity concert and dinner, which was hosted by the Birmingham Chinese Women's Association to raise funds to build a primary school in the rural areas of China.



2004 August

  • Huddersfield Food & Drink Festival: Workers and volunteers ran a Chinese food stall at the Festival to raise money and promote HCCC.


2004 July

  • Secured Lottery funding for 3 years to develop HCCC and provide activities for the Chinese community.
  • Summer trip to Blackpool for Chinese families funded by Community Liaison's Development Grant.


2004 June

  • Secured Living Spaces grant to develop HCCC's garden area.


2004 February

  • Chinese New Year Celebrations: HCCC in partnership with Kirklees Cultural Services hosted a Chinese New Year event at the Huddersfield Town Hall.



2003 December

  • The Huddersfield Chinese Community Centre moved into its new premises at 2 Claremont Street, Huddersfield.
